ACTES 2022: Our Most Successful Congress Yet—A Recap of November 11–12, 2022

The 6th Albanian Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ACTES 2022), held on November 11–12, 2022 at the Tirana International Hotel & Conference Center, set a new benchmark for professional gatherings in Albania. With world-class faculty, a packed scientific agenda, and over 400 participants, this year’s congress truly was our most successful event to date.

1. Unprecedented International & Local Collaboration
ACTES 2022 welcomed 67 foreign lecturers from the USA, UK, Austria, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Kosovo—alongside leading Albanian experts. Their combined expertise enriched every session, sparking lively discussion and knowledge exchange.

2. A Robust Scientific Program
We featured 230 presentations across 40 plenary sessions in four parallel halls, covering hot-topic themes such as:

  • Damage-control surgery and hemorrhage management
  • Advances in prehospital and disaster medicine
  • Simulation-based training and team communication
  • Trauma system development and quality improvement

Attendees had ample opportunity to engage with the latest research, participate in interactive case discussions, and attend hands-on skills workshops.

3. Record-Breaking Attendance
Over 400 health professionals—surgeons, emergency physicians, nurses, paramedics, and trainees—from Albania and the wider region joined us, making ACTES 2022 the largest trauma and surgical emergency event our country has ever seen.

4. Looking Ahead
The energy and insights generated at ACTES 2022 will fuel our next initiatives in education, research, and collaboration. Visit our website for presentations, recorded sessions, and information on upcoming workshops and the 7th Annual Congress in 2023:
